Boxscore

Dudley, Mass. – Senior Ashley Wright’s (Merrimack, N.H.) 28 points made her the 7th player in Endicott women’s basketball history to surpass 1,000 career points. The sharpshooting guard, who entered the game needing 25 points to reach the milestone, shot a career-best 8-for-9 from beyond the arc in a 68-54 win over host Nichols in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action.

Fittingly, Wright set the mark with a 3-pointer to put Endicott on top 57-40 with 9:19 remaining in the second half. She finished 10-of-16 from the floor and dished out a game-high four assists.

The Gulls, winners of three straight, move to 8-4 overall (2-0 TCCC) while the Bison stall at 6-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Classmate Ashley Vitale (Wilmington, Mass.) finished with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting.  The senior center pulled down a team-high nine rebounds in the win.   Freshman guard Ashley Walenta (Plainfield, Conn.) came off the bench to score nine points.

Wright scored the first eight points for the Blue and Green, who opened an 8-3 lead in the early stages of the first half. Nichols’ guard Ashley Robidoux (Milford, Mass.) nailed a triple to tie the game at 23 with 5:21 remaining.  The visitors responded with an 11-0 run to take a 37-26 lead into the break.

Jessica Nelson’s (North Providence, R.I.) layup less than three minutes into the second half brought the Bison within seven (39-32).

Senior forward Brittany Kelleher (Wakefield, Mass.) hit 1-of-2 from the charity stripe on the ensuing possession before freshman forward Jennifer White’s (Lisbon, N.H.) conventional three-point play ignited a 14-2 run to put the game out of reach.

Endicott returns to MacDonald Gymnasium on Saturday to host TCCC-foe WNEC at 1:00 pm. Nichols takes to the road for a 1:00 pm showdown at New England College on the same day.
