Endicott Softball Reveals 2014 Schedule

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott softball team has released their schedule for the 2014 season. Last season the Gulls went 20-20 overall while posting an impressive 17-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) record.  The squad lost in the CCC championship game against Roger Williams in the double elimination phase of the CCC tournament in 2013. Under the leadership of Endicott's record holder for career wins and longest tenured coach, Head Coach Mark Veilleux enters his 20th season at the helm of the softball team as they look to once again make statement in the CCC.

The 2014 season will include the yearly trip to Clermont, Fla. where they will participate in the College Spring Games in March along with some top ranked opponents including reigning National Champions the Jumbos of Tufts University.

Upon returning home from their spring training games in Florida the Gulls will kick off their conference schedule with a weekend packed with CCC opponents. Starting on Friday, March 28th the squad will travel to face Salve Regina. The next day they will host Wentworth and then travel on Sunday to compete against Curry, all of which Endicott swept last season in all their meetings.

The Blue and Green will then pick up a few out of conference games with Brandeis, Salem State, Wellesley and MIT. Against the Judges the Gulls lead 3-2 in the last five meetings and in the North Shore Cup matchup against the Vikings Endicott leads 6-2 all-time. The doubleheader against the Engineers will be the first meeting between the two squads since 2001. To finish up the string of non-conference games the Gulls will face a tough Blue team who has won three of the last five meetings.

Endicott will then face a strong double header lineup with contests against Eastern Nazarene and the University of New England, followed by a non-conference matchup against the Babson Beavers who ended the 2013 season ranked at #25. The Gulls defeated both Eastern Nazarene and UNE in all their games last season and look to continue their success in the 2014 season. The Beavers will be a tough contest but will only help the Blue and Green in the end preparing them for their final games of the CCC and battle against the 2013 National Champions, Tufts.

To finish off CCC play before the tournament the team will face Gordon and Roger Williams. The Gulls handed the Fighting Scots two losses last season while the Hawks upset the Blue and Green in the final game of the CCC Championship as they took a 6-3 victory to march to the NCAA Tournament. The Gulls will look to get redemption but even more so prepare themselves for the 2014 CCC Tournament in their fight for their 10th CCC championship title and another trip to the big dance.

Each home game on the 2014 schedule will be made available online for those who cannot attend via live statistics and a live webcast. Check the schedule page for links to those offerings.
