Gulls earn pair of second place finishes at Gordon Invitational
WENHAM, Mass. – The Endicott College men’s and women’s cross country teams had a pair of second place finishes this past weekend at the Gordon Invitational held in Wenham, Mass. on Saturday morning. The Gulls were paced by third place finishes from \#Greg Payne\# (North Attleboro, Mass.) and \#Kim Shepherd\# (Essex, Conn.).

On the men’s side, Payne’s time of 27:57 left him :22 seconds behind the race winner, Gordon’s Josh Porizky. The Gulls also received three other top-20 finishes with \#Brendan Mitchell\# (Chelmsford, Mass.) and \#Sam Turner\# (Portland, Maine) finishing 13th and 14th with respective times of 31:21 and 31:22. \#Tom Rofrano\# (Sayville, N.Y.) also finished in the top-20 with his time of 32:03, good for a 17th place finish.

Endicott finished second behind Gordon in the team portion while placing well ahead of the third place winner, Suffolk University. Gordon’s Porizky won the 8k race with his time of 27:35 while fellow Fighting Scot Marty Maloney placed second with his time of 27:42 and Payne rounding out the top-three.

For the women, Shepherd led five Gulls who finished inside the top-10 runners. Shepherd’s time of 20:22 was good for a third place finish as well as her earning the TCCC Rookie of the Week. \#Megan McGraw\# (Georgia, Vt.), \#Brittaney Plante\# (Nashua, N.H.) and \#Holly Davis\# (Guilford, Conn.) finished fifth through seventh in the race and were separated by only a few seconds with times of 20:55, 20:57 and 20:58, respectively. \#Kelly Cameron\# (Barrington, R.I.) was also a top finisher for the Gulls with her ninth place finish with a time of 21:44.

Gordon swept both races while finishing first in the women’s race as well. The Gulls were a close second, falling behind by only five points, while Mount Ida rounded out the top three. Gordon took the top-two spots on the women’s side as well with Allison Lynch and Amy Holcombe placing first and second for the Scots.

The Blue and Green return to the trails on Saturday when they travel to Springfield, Mass. for The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship meet. Both teams hit the ground running at 1:00 p.m.
