Men’s Tennis Bests Saint Joseph’s (Conn.), 8-1

MANCHESTER, Conn. — The Endicott men's tennis team defeated Saint Joseph's (Conn.), 8-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Magic Lincer Tennis Club.

George Danes (Old Lyme, Conn.), Spencer Smith (Albany, N.Y.), and Aaron Terpko (Shrewsbury, Mass.) were all double-winners for the Gulls.

In doubles, Smith and Terpko teamed up for Endicott's first point of the day with an 8-3 victory at No. 3.

Danes and Hudson De Risi (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) also won by an identical score at the No. 2 slot to give Endicott a 2-1 advantage heading into singles.

From there, Julian Richtarich (Naples, Fla.), Oliver Pope (South Dartmouth, Mass.), and Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany) ripped off victories at No. 4 (6-2, 6-2), No. 3 (6-2, 6-3), and No. 1 (6-2, 7-6 (1)) to secure the non-conference dub.

Danes, Smith, and Terpko rounded out the Gulls with wins at No. 2 (6-1, 2-6, 10-4), No. 6 (6-1, 6-3), and No. 5 (6-1, 7-6 (4)), respectively.

"The men played well, and have been practicing well too, which showed in today's results," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "I'm very happy with our level at this point in the season."

  • Endicott moved its record to 2-2 on the road.
