Beverly, MA- The men's tennis team lost to Gordon College, 0-9, at home yesterday. The Gulls, still in search of their first win this season, lost each of the singles matches in straight sets. Junior Joe Dudek, however, played very well at 3rd singles and almost extended his match into a third set.
After dropping the first set, 3-6, Dudek was down late in the second, but fought back to the point where it was tied, 6-6. In the tie-breaker, Dudek fell behind early and couldn't make up ground. "Joe plays every point like it's the last one of the match. He hustles and makes his opponents earn their points," said Coach Herlihy. "Twice now he has taken sets to a tie-breaker. Along with his teammates, he's getting better with each match."
The Gulls host Salve Regina on Friday, April 16, 3:30 start.
