The Men's Tennis Team fell to Nichols College yesterday, 9-0. The Gulls battled and were competitive in several matches, but Nichols proved to be too strong. "We've taken our lumps in recent matches, no doubt about it," said Coach Mark Herlihy. "But this team is very young. All but one of our players today are playing their first year of collegiate tennis. No one likes getting shut out, but we competed. There were many long rallies and well played points in the matches. The guys are improving."
Sophomore Brian Goldmeier, playing \#1 singles, lost 3-6, 0-6, but served well and did a good job attacking short balls, according to Herlihy. Kealan Rooney lost 4-6, 1-6, in his 4th singles match, but also played well. "Kealon's scrappy. He stays in points, make's the other guy play, and knows when to go on the offensive," said Herlihy.
The team faces Colby-Sawyer on the road on Tuesday, April 13, in its next match.
