BEVERLY, Mass. – For the fifth time this season, Endicott men's lacrosse senior Tommy Hughes (Coram, N.Y.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Specialist of the Week, as announced by the league office earlier today.
In a 15-9 loss to Bowdoin last week, Hughes went 22-for-29 (75.9 percent) at the X in Endicott's only game of the week. He also secured 15 ground balls in the contest and even contributed offensively with a goal and an assist.
Entering tomorrow's regular season finale against Gordon, Hughes sits 23 ground balls shy of breaking Sam Ozycz's '13 (Cheshire, Conn.) program record for career ground balls (728, 2009-13). Hughes career-high for ground balls in a single-game is 21, which he set against Curry on April 15, 2017. That mark is second highest single-game output behind Ozycz's 26 versus Western New England on April 24, 2013.
