Kamahl Walker Nabs Final Regular Season CCC Player of the Week Award

CCC Athletes of the Week – Week Ending February 22nd, 2015

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott sophomore guard Kamahl Walker (Worcester, Mass.) is now a two-time CCC Player of the Week after leading the Gulls men's basketball team to the #2 seed this week's conference tournament and a 20-win season with two victories to close out the 2014-15 regular season.

Walker used an efficient shooting touch to average 24.5 points per game in Endicott's (20-5, 16-2 CCC) 79-70 road win over Wentworth last Tuesday and Saturday's 89-77 regular season finale at home versus Western New England. Walker shot 72% from the floor including 69% (9-of-13) from three-point range and 80% (4-of-5) at the line.

Walker set a new career-high with 10 made field goals and six three-pointers as the sophomore led all scorers with 29 points against Wentworth. In that game, he knocked down 10-of-14 field goals, 6-of-8 three-pointers, and all three free throw attempts while hauling in five rebounds, distributing three assists, and getting two steals.

Against Western New England, Walker came off the bench on Senior Day to score a team-high 20 points on 8-of-11 from the floor including 3-of-5 from long range. Endicott, as a team, would 15 three-point field goals which was two shy of a tying a program record. Walker added four assists, a rebound, and a steal in the win over the Golden Bears.

Heading into the 2015 CCC Men's Basketball Tournament, Walker is averaging 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and nearly a steal per game. He ranks fourth in the CCC in scoring but first in three-point field goal percentage (48.2%).

Walker and the Gulls will host the #7 seed Western New England on Tuesday, February 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the CCC Quarterfinals. Endicott swept both regular season meeting with the Golden Bears this season and are currently riding a six-game win streak against their first round opponent.
