Second half dominance lifts Gulls to 88-58 win over Framingham State

Framingham, Mass. – The Endicott men’s basketball team continued their strong start to the 2010-11 season with a 88-58 victory over Framingham State on Wednesday evening. The Gulls improved to 2-0 on the season behind a unique double-double from sophomore \#Lance Green\# (Dorchester, Mass.) with 11 points and 10 steals.

Green’s 10 steals set the tone for a 32 turnover night for the Rams. The Framingham State miscues resulted in 31 points off turnovers for the Gulls. Green also had a game-high seven assists in the win.
Senior \#Chris Galbraith\# (Lowell, Mass.) led a Blue and Green offense in the second half that outscored the Rams 53-29. Galbraith scored 10 of his game-high 17 points in the second half and finished 6-of-9 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.

\#Lachlan Magee\# (Melbourne, Australia) and \#Milan Drecun\# (Montenegro) each scored eight points in a second half where Endicott shot 44.7% from the field. Lachlan finished with 15 points in the game as well as four rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Endicott jumped out to a nine-point lead early five minutes in the first half after a three-pointer by a Magee and a free-throw by freshman \#Tyler Burkhart\# (Cromwell, Conn.) gave the Gulls a 12-3 advantage.

The Rams responded, however, and overtook the lead at 28-27 with a layup in the paint by Caesar Veal (Dorchester, Mass.). Veal would finish with 12 points in the game, including a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line, and eight rebounds. The sophomore also tied for a team-high three steals.

Endicott regained the lead on their next possession, took a 35-29 lead into halftime and never relinquished the lead.

\#Spencer Calling\# (South Windsor, Conn.) gave a solid effort off the bench for the Gulls with six points, six rebounds, and a block in 14 minutes.

Framingham State also had double-digit point performances from Juan Lopez (Holyoke, Mass.), Layo Medina (Brockton, Mass.) and Darius Carter (Boston, Mass.) who contributed with 14, 11, and 10 points, respectively.

The Blue and Green will next compete in the North Shore Collegiate Tip-Off Tournament on both Friday and Saturday this weekend. On Friday night, the Gulls face off against North Atlantic Conference opponent Maine Maritime Academy at 8:00 pm, hosted by Gordon College in Wenham. Saturday’s games will be held at MacDonald Gymnasium at Endicott. Framingham State hosts MIT on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
