CCC Athletes of the Week Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) released their weekly awards and one member of the field hockey earned defensive player of the week honors. Senior veteran defender, Jess Linden (Stratford, Conn.) had a stellar two games in the backfield as she helped soar the Gulls to an undefeated week.

The weekly award marked the first for the field hockey team this season and Linden's first of her career.

The defender used her speed to move the ball up the field and create offensive opportunities last week which led her to earn her first career points in a Gulls uniform. Linden tallied her first collegiate goal against Colby-Sawyer while also tallying an assist in the 4-0 victory. In the North Shore Cup competition with Salem State the defender again helped a defensive unit that allowed just one goal and helped an offensive unit to score four goals in the 4-1 victory.

The field hockey team will see action next on Wednesday, September 10th as they host non-conference rivals, UMass. Dartmouth for a 7:00 p.m. game under the lights at North Field.
