HOLLISTON, MA - The Endicott College equestrian team opened its season Sunday October in impressive fashion as Kate Selig was awarded Reserve High Point Rider while the Gulls also captured five first place ribbons.
Selig, jumping the IHSA fences class for the first time won both of her classes. She found herself in a ride-off with an experienced open rider and held her own until the judge called for a counter-canter. A counter-canter is not a gait that is normally expected of novice riders.
Anna DeLorenzo and Casey Lake pointed out, making them eligible to ride in regional finals next April. Walk-trot rider, DeLorenzo won her class and will now ride in the beginner walk-trot-canter division while novice rider, Lake won her flat class and will now compete in intermediate flat. Hayley Mackay also moved up to advanced walk-trot-canter.
The Gulls next competition is on October 21, 2007 at Four Corners Farm in Tiverton, RI a hosted by UMass-Dartmouth.
