SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The final Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) baseball awards of the regular season have been announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye and two Endicott College athletes have been recognized for their performance on the diamond this week.

Third baseman Danny Mello (Peabody, Mass.) was selected as CCC Player of the Week and right handed pitcher Tyler Hill (Plymouth, N.H.) was tabbed as Pitcher of the Week.

The Gulls went 7-1 this week to end their season with a 26-14 record (12-4 in the CCC) and the second seed in the upcoming CCC Championship tournament.

Mello, who was honored Sunday as part of Senior Day festivities, enjoyed a solid week from the plate as he batted .464 (13-for-28) and racked up four doubles and a home run, scored nine runs and collected six RBI. In a doubleheader sweep over CCC foe Salve Regina, Mello went 4-for-8 with two doubles and a home run, crossed the plate four times and drove in a run. In the Gulls’ second doubleheader sweep of the week, Mello went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI against non-conference opponent UMass Boston.

Earlier in the week, Mello also drove in a run in the Gulls 5-3 victory over nationally-ranked \#5 Wheaton. Mello collected a .714 slugging percentage, helped by his second homerun of the season.

Hill, a sophomore, posted a 2.92 ERA over 12.1 innings of work this week. He allowed nine hits and struck out five batters en route to a 2-0 record. Hill fired 6.2 innings, to shut down national power \#5 Wheaton in a 5-3 victory. He allowed just six hits, gave up one earned run and tallied one K to collect his first victory of the season. In a 12-5 victory over UMass Boston, Hill tossed 5.2 innings, allowed three earned runs on three hits, and struck out four batters.

The second seeded Gulls will start their CCC Tournament run at North Field when they host the Fighting Scots of Gordon College on Thursday at 3:00 pm.
