Women’s Cross Country Finishes Fourth At Saints Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. Behind a second place finish from Jules Wesley (Beverly, Mass.), the Endicott women's cross country team ranked fourth overall out of 22 teams at the Saints Invitational on Friday evening at Franklin Park.

Gordon won the meet with a team score of 66 points, while Plymouth State finished second (93) and Roger Williams came in third (100). Meanwhile, Endicott followed in fourth place with 119 points and host Emmanuel College placed fifth with 123 points.

In a field of 210 competitors, Wesley took runner-up honors with a time of 19:39 on the 5-kilometer course by edging out three runners at the line, including two by one second and another by two seconds. 

Emma Farrington (Essex Junction, Vt.) checked in at 12th overall (20:13), while Lauren Tocci (Shamong, N.J.), Abigail Keim (Williston, Vt.), and Haley Marek (Westhampton, Mass.) rounded out the Gulls' top-5 with times of 21:05 (31st), 21:17 (38th), and 21:36 (49th), respectively.

"The ladies put together some strong races today and it was great to see people step up due to some of the injuries we are dealing with right now," said Endicott women's cross country head coach Spencer Lange. "We will have some things to fine tune headed into conference championships, but today's race put us one more step forward in the right direction towards reaching our ultimate goal."

  • Tocci bettered her time from two years ago at the Saints Invitational by 12 seconds.
  • Wesley was only one of six student-athletes to break the 20-minute barrier.

Endicott enjoys a week off from competition prior to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships, which take place in Biddeford, Maine on Saturday, October 28.
