Hoover, Henry Sweep CCC Weekly Awards

CCC WOMEN'S TENNIS WEEKLY AWARDS RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott women's tennis student-athletes Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) and Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference women's tennis weekly awards, the league office announced earlier today. 

Hoover earned Player of the Week honors, while Henry received Rookie of the Week laurels. 

Hoover earned four victories in the Gulls CCC Tournament Championship run going 2-0 at No. 2 doubles and 2-0 at No. 1 singles. In doubles play, she earned an 8-1 against Gordon's second pairing in the semifinal before earning an 8-2 result against Nichols in the Championship. Both of her singles matches were handled in straight sets and both clinched the match for the Gulls. She defeated Gordon's No. 1 6-4, 6-3 and then only dropped a single game against Nichols in the Championship, winning 6-0, 6-1.

Meanwhile, Henry was just as impressive going 3-0 in the CCC Championship Tournament playing at No. 3 doubles and No. 4 singles for the Gulls. In the CCC Semifinal against Gordon, she picked up an 8-3 victory in doubles play before defeating her singles opponent 6-0, 6-0. She repeated her doubles performance in the CCC Championship match against Nichols and had won the first set in her No. 4 singles match when the match was decided.

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (9-0) will travel to John's Hopkins to take on Nazareth in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis tournament.
