Women's Tennis Downs Gordon, 8-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Gordon College, 8-1, on Thursday afternoon at the South Campus Courts.

In doubles action, the Gulls earned an 8-4 win at No. 2 through Clare O'Keefe (Lutz, Fla.) and Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.), then Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) and Kaitlin Fitzgibbons (Nashua, N.H.) gave Endicott a 2-1 lead heading into singles with an 8-2 victory at No. 3. 

Meanwhile, in singles play the Gulls earned a clean sweep. 

Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) secured a 6-1, 7-5 triumph at No. 1, Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2, Henry earned a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 3, Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) dropped one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4, O'Keefe cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 5, and at No. 6, Berler was victorious, 6-1, 6-0.

"We are continuing to grow and build as a team," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "If we don't beat ourselves, and stay humble and focused, we will be a tough team to play."

Endicott (5-0) will travel to Gordon (3-3) for a conference matchup on Saturday, April 17 scheduled for 11 AM.
