Athletics Participates In Frozen Flop Fundraiser; Football & Equestrian Programs Top Fundraising List

BEVERLY, Mass. – Last Sunday (2/21), several of Endicott's athletic programs – highlighted by the football, crew, equestrian, women's ice hockey, and women's tennis teams – participated in the College's Frozen Flop & Beach Fire 4 Charity event at Tupper Beach.

Students, staff, and faculty were all invited to jump into the Atlantic Ocean then warm up afterward by enjoying s'mores near a fire pit. All attendees were asked to obtain at least three $5 donations and any participant who raised $15 or more dollars received a Frozen Flop 2021 t-shirt.

Overall, the fundraiser collected $6,317 in donations via 175 participants who took part in the charity event throughout the course of the day. The funds from the event will benefit the ALS Association, Movement for Black Lives, Relay For Life, and Special Olympics organizations.

The football team raised the most money out of any athletics program donating just over $1,400 to all four causes combined. Meanwhile, the equestrian program raised a little more than $1,330 to rank as the second-highest fundraising team for the event.

"What attracted us to the Frozen Flop charity fundraiser was that we could choose between four different charities to donate to," stated Helen Barrow (Swanton, Vt.) and Macayla Loescher (Hubbardston, Mass.) on behalf of the equestrian team. "It is amazing how our team – and so many others on our campus – can rally together to give back to their community. For our team, specifically, we can always count on the girls on this team to unite whether it is in competition or running into the ocean."
