George and Mansfield Named 2014 NEWISA DIII All-New England

2014 NEWISA All-New England Honors for Division III

BEVERLY, Mass.-  The New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) released the 2014 DIII All-New England teams on Monday evening and two Gulls were among 40 athletes to receive honors.  Seniors Ally George (Stratham, N.H.) and Clare Mansfield (Stoneham, Mass.) were named to the First and Second Team respectively for their efforts in lifting Endicott to a 10-5-4 record overall, marking the first time in each player's career that they received NEWISA honors.

For George, her NEWISA All-New England First Team honor follows a season in which she was named All-CCC First Team and started all 19 of Endicott's matches, one of just five players to do so.  The midfielder tallied two assists in 2014 and finished her career with seven points.  She logged her assists in back to back contests down the stretch, recording her first on a Hannah Schneidenbach (Charlestown, R.I.) goal in the team's 7-0 win over Salve Regina before assisting on Audrey Parolin's (Cumberland, Maine) goal in the team's 4-0 win over Curry on Senior Day.

For Mansfield, the NEWISA All-New England Second Team honor gives her three awards on the year as she was named NSCAA All-New England Third Team and All-CCC First Team following her senior campaign.  In 2014, Mansfield led a defensive unit that allowed just 1.0 goal/game on the season.  The senior capped her impressive career that ended with 54 games played and 43 consecutive starts.  Mansfield finished her career with seven points, three of which came in 2014 via a goal and an assist.  Her lone goal, which came in the 4-0 win over Curry, proved to be the game winner, while her assist also came on a game winner, on a Shelby McLenithan (Bennington, Vt.) goal in the team's 2-0 regular season win over Wentworth.
