ECAC Division III New England Women's Soccer All-Star Teams Release

DANBURY, Conn.- Senior defender Clare Mansfield (Stoneham, Mass.) has been named to the 2014 ECAC Division III New England Women's Soccer All-Star Second Team, adding to an already impressive post season accolade haul in 2014.  The All-Star teams, which were announced Thursday evening, honored 29 players of which nine were defenders.  Mansfield was one of eight CCC players to earn the distinction.

A two year starter, Mansfield has now been recognized by the ECAC, NSCAA, NEWISA and CCC for her play in 2014.  Her ECAC Second Team honors follows NEWISA All-New England Second Team, NSCAA Third Team and All-CCC First Team honors in her senior campaign.  The leader of the defense, Mansfield ended her career with 54 games played, including 41 consecutive starts over the past two seasons, and seven points.  Over the past two seasons with Mansfield as a starting defender, the Gulls defense allowed an average of just 0.88 goals/game.

The distinction continues an impressive streak for the Gulls as it means at least one defensive player has received ECAC All-Star honors for four consecutive years, and five out of the last six.  To view a complete list of All-Region honors for the women's soccer program, please click here.
