Gulls Top Nichols, 19-7, Behind Stretch Of 14 Unanswered Goals

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team defeated host Nichols College, 19-7, Wednesday night at Vendetti Field behind a career-high four goals from sophomore midfielder Olivia Larson (Cheshire, Conn.).

The two teams were tied 5-5 with just under 10 minutes to go in the first half before the Gulls rattled off the next 14 goals – five in the first half and nine in the second half.

Junior Maura Grady (Marblehead, Mass.) earned her fourth win in goal (4-8) as she made six saves through 48:15 before sophomore Molly Lane (Durham, Maine) made three saves in relief.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Bison turned the ball over 14 times compared to just the season-low six of the Gulls.
  • The Gulls matched their season-best with 19 goals in the game as it occurred in back-to-back games (19 vs. Wentworth on 4/16/16).
  • Junior midfielder Emily Whitney (Rye, N.H) continued her scoring streak as she notched two goals and assisted on three others.
  • Whitney has scored in 14 of the Gulls' 16 games this season, including five straight games with at least one goal and has 25 points in Endicott's past six games.
  • Freshman attack Jackie Healy's (Northborough, Mass.) three goals give her four consecutive games with a hat trick and she recorded her first career assist tonight.
  • Freshman midfielder Jackie Neilsen (Agawam, Mass.) scored her first career hat trick with three goals for the Gulls.
  • Sophomore Erin McCarthy (Old Lyme, Conn.) also added two goals and an assist.
  • Senior defender Elizabeth Reda (Wilton, Conn.) matched her season-high with a team-leading four ground balls, which tied for a game-high and also caused a game-high two turnovers.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Bison have lost ten games in a row.
  • Junior goalie Katherine Cotton (Kennebunk, Maine) made four saves over the first 48:15 as she fell to 2-12 on the season.
  • Sophomore midfielder Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) registered four goals and one assist on a game-high seven shots.
  • Sophomore midfielder Melissa Lafleur (Chicopee, Mass.) won a game-high six draw controls and scooped up a team-high four ground balls.
  • The Bison outshot the Gulls, 14-12, in the second half, but were outshot for the game by a slim 32-26 margin.

NOTES

  • The Gulls are 16-0 all-time and 9-0 on the road at Nichols dating back to April 14, 2001.
  • Endicott won the most recent meeting before today, 13-10, in Beverly, Mass. on April 11, 2015.
