BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team has been picked second in the 2016 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, as selected by the league's nine head coaches.

Head coach Morgan Maciewicz enters her second season at the helm of the Endicott women's lacrosse program as the Gulls are coming off a 15-6 loss to Roger Williams in the CCC Semifinals that snapped a streak of nine straight conference titles brought home to Beverly from 2006 to 2014.

Endicott received 68 points and the remaining first place vote heading into the 2015-16 season after posting an 11-6 record overall in 2015, which included a 6-2 showing in conference games.

Western New England University was slated for the top spot with 80 points and eight first place votes, while Roger Williams was ranked third (66). University of New England (53), Gordon (47), Salve Regina (33), Nichols (25), Curry (14), and Wentworth (9) rounded out the poll in respective order.

Endicott opens the 2016 campaign at MIT on Wednesday, March 2 at 6:00 p.m. and the home opener is set for Saturday, March 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Hempstead Stadium as the Gulls welcome Wheaton College to Beverly, Mass. for a non-conference matchup.

The 2016 women's lacrosse non-conference schedule is packed with two more strong NEWMAC opponents (March 9 vs. Wellesley, March 26 vs. Babson) and four other regional contenders throughout the season (March 14 vs. Rensselaer, March 17 vs. Trinity (Conn.), March 19 at Southern Maine, and March 23 vs. Bowdoin). Housing these opponents will only prepare the Gulls for a competitive CCC schedule as they will look to bring home the program's tenth title and tenth NCAA appearance in the last 11 years.
