Women's Ice Hockey Outlasts Suffolk, 6-4

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Suffolk, 6-4, on Saturday afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena. 

After the two teams traded goals within a minute of each other in the first period, The Gulls rattled off four straight goals (one in the first, three in the second) through Jacy Kuhlman (Severna Park, Md.), Kaylee Liberty (Arlington Heights, Ill.), Lauren Ferraiuolo (North Haven, Conn.), and Kuhlman again, to earn a 5-1 lead. 

The Rams then potted three unanswered goals of their own to get within one (5-4), before Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) scored her first collegiate goal and the sixth Endicott goal to give the Gulls a two-goal lead, 6-4.

In net, Bailey Thieben (North Syracuse, N.Y.) made 27 saves to improve to 3-0-0 on the season. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Keaveney had three points today (1G, 2A) her most in a single game in her career. 
  • With her two goals today, Kuhlman has now scored in four out of the five games this season.
  • Catherine Miles (Northfield, Vt.) scored Endicott's opening goal.
  • Liberty has scored in three straight games for The Gulls. 
  • Endicott now leads the all-time series over Suffolk, 3-0-0.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (5-0-0) and Suffolk (2-5-0) will play the second leg of their home and home series tomorrow at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink with puck drop scheduled for 3:45 PM.
