Endicott College Announces Winter Athletics Plan

Endicott College Announces Winter Athletics Plan

BEVERLY, Mass. — Dear Student-Athletes and Families,

After careful consideration, the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its plan to cancel conference competition for the Winter 2020-21 season earlier today.

This decision will still allow individual institutions, such as Endicott, to exercise autonomy in scheduling athletic competitions, athletic travel, and additional testing procedures outside of the CCC. This means that all varsity and club sports will be evaluated with COVID-19 safety protocols as our top priority, and student-athletes may have the opportunity to participate in competitions including games, not under the umbrella of the CCC.

Additionally, with the safety of the Endicott community in mind, and in accordance with state and local restrictions, no spectators will be permitted at any sporting event that is conducted in 2020-21.

At this time, it is the Conference's intent to sponsor CCC competition for spring sports beginning March 27, pending the CCC Board of Directors' review of health guidance and travel restrictions. Spring sports include baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, men's golf, and women's track & field.

Any updates to the 2020-21 athletics plan will be shared with the members of our community as decisions are made.

"Though we continue to struggle through these challenging times, we have signs of brighter days ahead. Our efforts and diligence are focused on identifying when the time is appropriate to begin winter and spring competition under the safest and most prudent care for our student-athletes and Endicott community," said Dr. Brian A. Wylie, Assistant Vice President & Athletics Director.

Specific questions regarding the Endicott College Winter Athletics Plan should be directed to individual coaches or to Dr. Brian A. Wylie, Assistant Vice President & Athletics Director at bwylie@endicott.edu or 978-232-2440.
