Softball Sweeps Wentworth, 3-0 & 13-5

BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott softball team swept Wentworth, 3-0 and 13-5, on Wednesday evening at Carr Diamond.

GAME ONE: Endicott 3, Wentworth 0

WP – Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) – 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 13 K
LP – Kayla DeMedeiros (South Dartmouth, Mass.) – 7 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
SV – None

Hanchuk dominated in the circle as the sophomore fanned a career-high 13 batters to move to 5-1 on the season.

Hanchuk's strikeout performance ranks tied for fifth all-time in a single game. The program record is 15, set twice by 2013 Endicott Hall of Famer Robyn Savitske Crosby (Hellertown, Pa.) '07.

Meanwhile, offensively, the Gulls scored solo runs in the first, sixth, and seventh innings to support Hanchuk's stellar outing.

Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.) highlighted the offense with a RBI ground-rule double to right field in the sixth.


GAME TWO: Endicott 13, Wentworth 5

LP – Erin Hancock (Holden, Mass.) – 4 2/3 IP, 10 H, 10 R, 7 ER, 4 BB, 1 K
SV – Gwen Stafford (Shoreham, Vt.) – 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K

Endicott scored in every inning but the sixth to complete the sweep of the Leopards.

Adrianna Favreau (Tewksbury, Mass.) put together a monster day at the plate as the senior second baseman went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI.

Misiaszek and Keelin Spencer (San Jose, Calif.) also collected multi-hit games in the win (3-for-4 | 2-for-5).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Stafford notched her first career save.
  • Endicott has won eight games in a row.
  • The Gulls are 9-2 on the road this season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (15-2, 11-1 CCC) will compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament this Saturday (if necessary Sunday). Tournament information such as location, opponent, and times will be publicized later this week by the CCC Office.

Wentworth sees its 2021 season come to a close at 2-15 (1-11 CCC) overall.
