Softball Sweeps Wentworth, 11-1 & 13-0

BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott softball team swept Wentworth, 11-1 and 13-0, on Saturday afternoon at Carr Softball Diamond. 

Prior to today's doubleheader Endicott seniors Meg Power (Shrewsbury, Mass.)Cailin Cleary (Massapequa, N.Y.)Adrianna Favreau (Tewksbury, Mass.)Zoe Rose (Carlstadt, N.J.),  and Keelin Spencer (San Jose, Calif.) and graduate students Michaela Hamill (Lynn, Mass.) and Katie Terban (Georgetown, Mass.) were honored for their impact on the Endicott softball program and Endicott community. 


GAME ONE: Endicott, 11 Wentworth, 1 (5 Innings)

WP: Hamill 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO

LP: Kayla DeMedeiros (South Dartmouth, Mass.) 1 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 SO

The Gulls came out of the gates swinging in game one, scoring seven runs in the top of the first and carrying that momentum all the way to the 11-1 victory. 

Highlighting Endicott in the first frame was Meghan Connor (St. Albans, Vt.) who hit a two-RBI double, Terban who singled up the middle scoring Connor, Spencer who hit a two-RBI single down the left-field line scoring Power, and Cleary who singled scoring Spencer and Terban. 

Then in the top of the second, the Gulls added two more as Spencer singled to right-center which scored Power, and Connor. 

Rounding out the offensive output in game one was Favreau who singled to right field and scored Spencer. 


GAME TWO: Endicott, 13 Wentworth, 0 (5 Innings)

WP: Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 10 SO.

LP: Aurora Wilks (Fruitport, Mich.) 1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER

Endicott again got off to a hot start in game two posting four runs in the top of the first inning through a Power RBI single, a Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.) RBI single, and a Spencer two-RBI single. 

After scoring two more runs in the second frame, Favreau put the Gulls up, 9-0, with a three-run shot to center field, in the third inning. 

Endicott then bookended the game with a four-run fifth inning, which was highlighted by Hamill's first career RBI. 

Meanwhile, Hanchuk was impressive from start to finish giving up only two hits and striking out a career-high 10 in five innings of work.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Misiaszek was a perfect 4-4 at the plate in game two.
  • Out of the 66 pitches that Hanchuk delivered, 46 were strikes. 
  • Connor has at least one hit in every game she has played, she is currently on a 14 game hitting streak.
  • The Gulls have now won their last five games in 5 innings.  

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (13-2, 9-1 CCC) and Wentworth (2-13, 1-9 CCC) will face off in a non-conference doubleheader at 3:30/5:30 PM, at Carr Softball Diamond.
