Endicott fall short of ECAC North Championship after 3-0 loss to Ramapo

BEVERLY, Mass. – The 2012 ECAC Division III North Championship went to top-seeded Ramapo on Saturday afternoon after the Roadrunners were able to pull off a straight-set victory over the \#2 seeded Endicott Gulls .

The top-seeded Roadrunners hoisted the trophy after winning 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 28-26).  Tournament MVP Paul Konopacki (Monroe Twp., N.J.) struck a team-high 10 kills, assisted on six blocks and had five digs to lead Ramapo. 

The Roadrunners stifled the Endicott offense in the blocking game with 32 total blocks including, 30 assist stops at the net.  Sophomore middle Mike Kane (Toms River, N.J.) led all players with nine assisted blocks while Konopacki and junior middle Joel Castro (Monroe Twp., N.J.) each added six.  Castro also had two solo blocks to himself. 

Endicott seniors Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.), Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.), Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) and Joshua Bruno (Andover, Mass.) all made an impact in their final games in a Gull uniform. 

Siden’s 12 kills were a match-high while adding five digs and a block.  Defensively, Slocum kept Endicott in the match with 12 digs and a perfect reception percentage on 17 attempts.  Schlosser dished out 14 assists and Bruno had a block and two kills. 

Endicott junior Kevin Duggan (Glastonbury, Conn.) had six kills to finish second on the team and both Lance Pepper (Torrington, Conn.) and Mike Coniglione (Glenville, N.Y.) struck four each.

Ramapo sophomore Jeff Jones (Manahawkin, N.J.) had seven kills, six digs, and three assisted blocks.  Both Castro and Brian Colabella (Upper Montclair, N.J.) had five kills in the win. Ramapo setters Harsh Prajapati (Old Bridge, N.J.) and Mike Hrehovcik (Little Falls, N.J.) combined for 31 assists.  Hrehovcik also added a team-high six digs. 

Endicott finishes their season 17-15 overall while Ramapo improved to 21-13.

The two-seeded Endicott won 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-18) over the \#3 seed Albertus Magnus behind a .400 team hitting percentage that nine kills from junior right side Matt Devendorf (Glastonbury, Conn.), eight kills from senior outside hitter Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) and seven more from sophomore outside hitter Brennan Lowe (Malibu, Calif.)
 
Siden, Lowe and senior libero Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) all tied for a match-high seven digs.
 
Endicott setters Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) and Carter Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dished out 22 and 16 assists, respectively, to eight different Gulls attackers.  Schlosser also added six digs. 
 
The Falcons were paced by sophomore outside hitters Brendan Charamut (Southington, Conn.) and Glenn Johnson (Newington, Conn.) who had seven and six kills, respectively.  Johnson chipped in with five digs defensively as did sophomore Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, Conn.).  Setter Carlos Torres (Maspeth, N.Y.) tallied 20 assists in the loss. 
 
As a team, Endicott had six team blocks with junior Kevin Duggan (Glastonbury, Conn.) and sophomore Mike Coniglione (Glenville, N.Y.) each getting three assisted blocks.  Sophomore Brandon Chadwick (Chelmsford, Mass.) in two sets compiled a solo block and an assisted block to go along with five kills.
