The Pride (2-3) are one of five nationally-ranked programs the Gulls will face in 2012. The two teams will meet again on March 8th in Beverly.  Endicott next travels to MIT on Tuesday, January 31st for a 7:00 pm start in Cambridge.

Springfield’s Angel Perez (Naranjito, Puerto Rico) led all players with nine kills and an .818 hit percentage while Pride setter Mike Becker (Lancaster, Pa.) dished out 19 assists to nine different attackers.

In the opening set, the Pride went errorless with 15 kills on 19 attempts for a .714 hit percentage and took the game 25-11.  Springfield sophomore Tyler Tanaka (Kailua, Hawaii) and junior Mike Freytag (Syracuse, N.Y.) each had three kills in the first set to lead the Pride.  Endicott senior outside hitter Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) had three of his five kills in the set.

After blocks by Endicott’s Mike Coniglione (Glenville, N.Y.) and Siden gave the Gulls the first point of second set, but Springfield ran off nine straight points to take control of the set.  Springfield built their lead to as large as 15 points at 19-4 before the Gulls managed to get some offense going with kills by Siden, Josh Anderson (La Canada, Calif.) and blocks by Joshua Bruno (Andover, Mass.) and Roche.  Endicott dropped the second set, however, 25-11, to fall behind 2-0 in the match.

In the third set, the Gulls hung with the Pride in the early going thanks to kills by junior Brennan Lowe (Malibu, Calif.) and sophomore Brandon Chadwick (Chelmsford, Mass.), but Springfield used a 5-0 run to go up 14-5.  The Pride pulled off another seven-point swing to take command of the final set as they won 25-10 and 3-0 overall.
