Byram wins number 200 with straight set win over NECC's Regis

Twelfth  year head coach Tim Byram won his 200th career match at the helm of the Endicott men’s volleyball program after his Gulls swept New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) foe Regis 3-0 (25-7, 25-12, 25-13) on the road. 

Byram, who now has a 200-154 (.565) mark as the team’s head coach, led Endicott to their second victory in as many matches in NECC play and currently stand at 4-5 overall.  Byram now has 440 career wins as leader of both the men’s and women’s volleyball programs at Endicott. 

As a team, Endicott sported a .422 hitting percentage, served up 10 service aces and thanks in large part to setters Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) and Carter Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) amassed 32 assists. 

Endicott showed their depth in this match with 12 different players recording kills including sophomore right side Josh Anderson (La Canada, Calif.) who had a team-high six kills without an error in nine attempts.  Fellow sophomore Kevin Duggan (Glastonbury, Conn.) along with senior captain Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) contributed to Endicott’s offensive output with five and four kills, respectively. 

A handful of other Gulls players chipped in with three kills including sophomores Mike Conilgione (Glenville, N.Y.) and Lance Pepper (Torrington, Conn.) and freshmen Thomas Stoeckinger (Malibu, Calif.) and Stewart Allendorph (Delmar, N.Y.). 

Stoeckinger was also one of three Endicott players to serve two aces in the match.  Roche and sophomore defensive specialist Aaron Jessee (Okinawa, Japan) were the other two.

On defense, freshman Kristian Catalan (Sudbury, Mass.) paced the Gulls with five digs and a perfect reception percentage on eight attempts.  Senior Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) had four digs with both Roche and Allendorph adding three apiece.  At the net, Stoeckinger had three of Endicott’s eight block assists to lead all players.

For the Pride, freshman outside hitter David Amicangioli (Belmont, Mass.) finished with a match-high seven kills and sophomore Drew Wilder (Brockton, Mass.) added three more with just one error but Regis struggled as a team with a negative .164 hitting percentage. 

Wilder also had four digs with senior Si Pan Leong (Boston, Mass.) matching Endicott’s Catalan for a match-high five digs. 

Endicott looks to even their 2012 record when they travel to Bennington, Vermont for a NECC match against Southern Vermont College on Saturday, February 18th at 3:00 pm.
