Men's volleyball falls in four to JW-Denver; #6 Stevens wins 3-0

TAMPA, Fla. - The Endicott men's volleyball team is competing in their second day of competition down in Florida during spring break.  The Gulls suffered two losses yesterday, a 3-0 loss to Warner Southern and a 3-1 defeat to Ramapo.

Match One: Endicott 1, Johnson & Wales-Denver 3

The Gulls lost in four sets to JW-Denver (25-23, 25-18, 17-25, 25-16) despite 14 kills from sophomore middle Travis Netherton (Waukegan, Ill.) and strong defensive efforts by senior Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Aaron Jessee (Okinawa, Japan) who compiled 15 and 12 digs, respectively. 

Junior right side Matt Devendorf (Glastonbury, Conn.) added seven kills for Endicott who played JW-Denver for the second time in program history.  The Blue and Green previously matched up with the Wildcats back on February 9, 2008 in Beverly.  Endicott lost 3-2 (30-22, 27-30, 30-24, 28-30, 15-11). 

Match Two: Endicott vs \#6 Stevens, 3PM
  
Senior middle Joshua Bruno (Andover, Mass.) was a presence defensively at the net with seven block assists but the Gulls lost 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-15) to \#6 rank Stevens in Endicott's final match down in Florida.  

Devendorf added seven more kills to his total on the day with both Siden and senior Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) each contributing with four apiece.  Setter Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) dished out 19 assists and Slocum had a team-high nine digs.  

Endicott returns to Massachusetts to face NECC rival Elms in Chicopee on Wednesday, March 21st at 7:00 pm.
