Gulls Down Anna Maria

Oct. 1, 2006

BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College men's soccer team picked up a big win Saturday as they defeated conference rivals Anna Maria College, 2-0.

Gabriel Moraga (Marlborough, CT/RHAM) broke a scoreless draw early in the second half to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead when Pirapong Sirikietsoong (Bangkok, Thailand) fed a ball to Kyle Schmutte (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Reg.) who then found Moraga in front of the Amcats net.

EC goalkeeper Cam Twiss (North Reading, MA/Bishop Fenwick) was tested a few times as he turned away four shots, once of which looked like it was going to tie the game before Twiss knocked the ball away from the net with a sprawling save.

Pranam Lipinski (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley) would seal the win for the Gulls after he redirected a TJ Sapienza (Milford, NH/Milford) shot past AMC keeper Scott Burokas giving Endicott the 2-0 win.

The Gulls were once again led by captain Eric Booth (Belchertown, MA/Belchertown) and Chris Croteau (Groveland, MA/Pentucket Reg.) once again proved to be an anchor for the Gulls at midfield as he has done all season long. Croteau also added an assist on the Lipinski goal to help pace the Gulls to the win.

Endicott dominated much of the first half getting a number of scoring chances from Schmutte and Sirikietsoong. Schmutte nearly gave EC an early lead as he sent a shot on goal in the opening minutes of play.

The Gulls continued their dominance in the second half to earn a hard fought win, improving to 2-8 overall. Endicott will next travel down the road to take on rival Gordon College on Wednesday afternoon in Wenham.
