BEVERLY, Mass. – Over half of the Endicott College baseball team will travel to sites across the country this summer to participate in Collegiate Summer League baseball. Twenty-one Gulls will play on 17 different teams from Las Vegas to Massachusetts.

Summer collegiate teams play with wooden bats and are a great opportunity for college baseball players to keep their game sharp while competing against the best pitchers and batters from across the country.

Seven members of 2012 ECAC Champions will travel to South Carolina to play in the Myrtle Beach League Collegiate League. Shortstop EJ Martinez, starting pitcher Mike Nich, outfielder Conor Ressel and first baseman Taylor English will team up as members of the Reef Raiders. During the season, they will meet teammates Eric Lemke, who will be a member of the Marauders, second baseman Harry Oringer, who will play for the Snappers, and catcher Nick Roberts, who will ply his trade with the Surf Riders for the summer.

Two other Gulls teaming up will be first baseman Brett Holmgren and pitcher Brendan Pittsley, who will join the Middleboro Bolts of the Cranberry League. Pitcher Tyler Hitchcock will also be in the league as a member of the Canton A’s.

Also staying in the area will be Colin Sitarz, playing in his hometown of West Hartford for the Connecticut Collegiate League. Matthew deVaux will be on the other side of the field when Sitarz takes on the team from Tobacco Valley.

Pitcher Tyler Hill will be travelling the furthest, joining the Las Vegas club in the prestigious California Collegiate League.

The Central New England Baseball Association will welcome Dana Duquette as a member of the Chelmsford Merchants, while pitcher Connor McLaughlin will join the Clinton 76ers in his own hometown.

Center fielder Tad Gold will also stay home, playing for the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. Pitchers Kevin Dupras (St. Joseph’s – Tri-County League) and John Morrison (Danbury Barons – Westchester/Rockland Wood Bat League) will also be playing this summer, as will Chase Sullivan, who will stay in Rhode Island to join the Mudville Nine of the Rhode Island Sunset League.

Outfielder Ralph Fidaleo will be the hometown boy for Fairfield’s team in the Connecticut Senior City League, as will Michael Griffin, who joins the Arlington Trojans of the Inter City League.
