Women’s Track & Field Posts Strong Showing At Sean Collier Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Endicott women's track and field team produced several strong performances on Saturday evening at the Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT, at the Sherie and Don (1961) Morrison Track.

Jamie Budge (Old Tappan, N.J.) turned in an impressive weekend for the Gulls as the freshman sprinter took part in three school record performances. Budge shattered her own school records in the 100-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles with times of 13.94 (15th of 36) and 17.54 (10th of 24), respectively.

Budge also ran the third leg on Endicott's 4x100-meter relay squad which posted a school record time of 54.64. Budge was joined on the 4x100-meter relay team by Taylor Papa (Tolland, Conn.), Miranda Scorsome (Colchester, Vt.), and Julianne Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.).

Meanwhile, Julia Jankowski (Methuen, Mass.) ranked 18th overall out of 50 competitors in the 200-meter dash with a school record time of 27.75. Jankowski and fellow 4x400-meter relay teammates Olivia Folkes (Amston, Conn.), Amanda Recupero (Ipswich, Mass.), and Amelia Castelli (Scituate, R.I.) also produced a school record time of 4:21.72 to place fifth overall. The Gulls' quartet dismantled the previous record of 4:28.40 set on 3/31/18.

Sarah Matys (Holden, Mass.) put together a solid double in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs with times of 2:38.58 (school record, 29th overall) and 5:30.31 (19th of 36), respectively.

Endicott's trio of 5,000-meter runners including Aleah MacKay (Bedford, N.H.), Kiera Malone (Woburn, Mass.), and Abigail Keim (Williston, Vt.) were 3rd (19:03.30, school record), 4th (19:09.12), and 7th (21:10.74), respectively, in the event.

OTHER ENDICOTT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sullivan was 17th overall in the 100-meter dash (14.00) and the long jump (14-feet, 1-inch).
  • Recupero ranked ninth overall in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:03.99.
  • Folkes was 11th in the 400-meter run (1:04.16).
  • Castelli came in 15th overall in the 100-meter hurdles (17.95).
  • Hannah Buckley (Milford, Conn.) tossed a school record distance of 22-feet, 6-inches in the shot put (22nd).
  • Taylor Jordan (Saco, Maine) finished 14th overall in the discus with a toss of 82-feet, 4.75-inches.

Endicott will compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships next Saturday at 10 AM.
