HOUSTON, Texas – The No. 1 nationally ranked Endicott women's rugby team fell to No. 2 St. Bonaventure, 22-10, in the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) Small College National Semifinals on Saturday afternoon at AVEVA Stadium.
Carolina Stubbs (Newtown, Conn.) and Tess Merrill (Greenwich, N.Y.) scored tries at 38:25 and 42:43 to highlight the Gulls' offense.
The Bonnies used a methodical, physical strategy on offense to keep possession away from Endicott's high-powered attack and it paid dividends as St. Bonaventure raced out to a 12-0 advantage in the first half.
Endicott answered with back-to-back tries from Stubbs and Merrill, but St. Bonaventure capitalized on turnovers late in the matchup to punch its ticket to the national championship game on Sunday.
