Morris' OT Game-Winner Lifts No. 11 Women's Ice Hockey Over UNE, 2-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 11 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team knocked off the University of New England in overtime, 2-1, in Friday night Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action from Raymond J. Bourque Ice Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the Nor'Easters netted the first goal of the night at the 6:03 mark of the second.

At the 13:27 mark, Endicott's Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) responded as she snuck one past the UNE goaltender to knot the score at one apiece.

The two teams fought through a defensive battle for the remainder of regulation sending the contest to overtime without any further goals allowed.

Just 46 seconds into the overtime period, Rivers Morris (Braintree, Mass.) drilled a shot into the top right corner of the net off of a Hall centering pass to win it for the Blue and Green.

Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas) posted a 21-save effort to move her record to 14-4-2 on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Following today's win, the Gulls lead the all-time series 15-3.
  • Endicott outshot UNE 36-22.
  • Hall and Morris recorded their fifth multi-point game of the season, respectively.
  • Tara Henshaw (Babylon, N.Y.) and Hall were credited with assists on Morris' game-winner, while Morris assisted Hall's regulation goal.

Endicott (16-4-2, 13-2 CCC) travels to Suffolk tomorrow for a 4:50 PM puck drop. UNE (8-11-3, 7-5-3 CCC) welcomes Nichols tomorrow for a 4:00 PM start time.
