The first half was a great competitive half for both teams. Endicott had four shots, three on goal, three corners and seven fouls, while Curry, attempted six shots, two of them on target.
Both teams had chances to take the lead in the second half, but it wasn’t until the 78th minute that the Colonels would score the eventual game-winner. Freshman Jonathan Hurley (Foxboro, Mass.) scored off an assist from freshman Ethan Ford (Brunswick, Maine). Ford crossed the ball from the corner of the field and Hurley was there for the one touch.
Endicott finished the game with nine shots, five on net, seven corner kicks and 17 fouls. Curry finished with 14 shots, seven on net, three corners and 13 fouls.
Newsome earned the win in net with four saves. In his first game of the season, Endicott junior Daniel Higgins (Kingston, R.I.) made five saves but took the loss.
Endicott next hosts Springfield on Tuesday, September 20 for a 7:00 p.m. game. The Colonels will travel to Emmanuel College the same evening for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
