Men's Rugby Posts Dominant Performance At Brown 7s Tournament

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Endicott men's rugby team had a successful trip to the Brown Sevens Tournament, as it went 4-0-1 against Fairfield B (26-12), Brown (28-7), Northeastern (19-15), Fairfield A (21-7), and played to a 12-12 tie against Siena in its five games.

Endicott's Defensive Player of the Tournament was Kyle Ernest (Severna Park, Md.), while the Warrior of the Tournament (MVP) went to Patrick Brennan (Newington, Conn.).

Playmakers of the tournament include Jonathan Taylor (Chicago, Ill.), Jordan Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.), Joseph Matteo (Simsbury, Conn.), DeShean Hatton (Washington, D.C.), Ryan Curley (Marshfield Hills, Mass.), Lyndon Silver (Danvers, Mass.) and Matthew Bant (Jenkintown, Pa.).

The Gulls also saw some contributions from newcomers Scott Turner (Peabody, Mass.), Jack Lewis (Clinton, Mass.), and Jacob Lehmann (Gorham, Maine).

Throughout the tournament, the team received scoring from Taylor (seven tries), Ernest (two tries, 13 conversions), Brennan (two tries), Hatton (two tries), Matteo (one tri), Curley (one tri), and Chappell (one tri).

Endicott (12-1-1) competes in the Babson 7s Tournament on Sunday, April 7.
