NCAA DIII MEN'S GOLF TOURNAMENT PROGRAM
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. - The Endicott men's golf team is in Nicholasville, Ky. for the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Tournament, with the Gulls set to tee off at 12:50 PM. The tournament is being held at the Keene Trace Golf Club, with the Champion Trace producing a par 72, 7,190 yard course, while the Keene Run will come in at a par of 72, with 6,897 yards of play.
HOW THEY GOT HERE
Endicott won the program's seventh Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title on April 28, surging to victory in the second round of 18 to punch the ticket to the NCAA Tournament. Endicott shaved 25 strokes off the opening round of the CCC Championship to move from fourth to first, claiming the fifth title under head coach Tom Smith. The 2019 tournament is the third time that the Gulls will have qualified for the NCAA field, as Endicott previously finished 31st in 2014, and 32nd in 2017.
SCOUTING ENDICOTT
The Gulls are led by a strong senior presence in 2019, as four of the five competing golfers will be graduating in two weeks. CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete Carter Knox (Hinesburg, Vt.) leads the squad, posting a team-best 76.31 stroke average in nine events, over 16 rounds of play. The Hinesburg, Vt. native has posted three top-five finishes and six total top-10 finishes on the year, highlighted by a second place finish at the CCC Championship.
Senior Christopher Billings (Portland, Maine) finished second on the team in stroke average with a 78.87. Billings finished with three top-10 finishes on the year, finished tied for eighth at the CCC Championship.
Graduate student Connor Brown (Granby, Conn.) finished the season with a 79.73 average, and finished seventh at the CCC Championship.
Senior Dylan Seeber (New Hartford, N.Y.) posted a season average of 80.73, which was highlighted by a 12th place finish at the LaFrance Invitational.
The lone non-graduating member to compete in the NCAA DIII Tournament is junior Kenneth Tuttle (Gorham, Maine), who fired an average round of 80.4 on the season, and finished a season-best fifth at the RIC Invitational.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
The Gulls are guaranteed to compete in the first two days of the NCAA DIII Tournament. The tournament, hosted by Transylvania University, will begin with 42 teams and six individuals, a total of 216 participants. Team and individual champions will be determined after 72 holes of play. After the first 36 holes, the field will be cut down to the top 18 teams and the top six individuals not on those teams.
