CCC Athletes of the Week Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-  The office of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced on Tuesday that Endicott golfers Alex Viola (Brunswick, Maine) and Drew Benshoff (Concord, Mass.) have been named the CCC Golfer and Rookie of the Week respectively.  The awards come on the heels of a second place finish for the Gulls at the Bowdoin Invitational at the Brunswick Golf Club over the weekend, a par 72 6,601 yard course. The Gulls recorded a second-place team score of 606, just five strokes back of the winning score posted by Middlebury.

Endicott's Alex Viola finished in second place at the Bowdoin Invitational, just one stroke off medalist honors. The junior carded a two-round score of 145 (72-73) and finished just one stroke behind the Division I golfer who earned medalist honors.

Benshoff, making his collegiate debut, earned Rookie of the Week honors following a 15th place finish out of the 64 person field.  The freshman recorded a two-day total of 156 after firing rounds of 79 and 77.

The awards are the first for each golfer.  Viola, Benshoff and the rest of the team return to action on Saturday when they compete in the Middlebury Invitational.
