Walker Collects Fourth CCC Rookie of the Week Award for Postseason-Bound Gulls

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - For the the fourth time this season Endicott freshman guard Kamahl Walker (Worcester, Mass.) was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week and on Tuesday night Walker will lead the postseason-bound Gulls men's basketball team as they travel to Newport to take on Salve Regina.

Walker averaged 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds with five steals and two assists in two Endicott victories over Wentworth and Western New England to secure the #5 seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament. Walker connected on 50.0% (10-of-20) of his attempts from the field including 4-of-8 from three-point range. 

The freshman upped his season averages to 11.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals on the year. 

In an 85-67 home win over Wentworth, Walker recorded nine points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals to complete a season sweep of the Leopards and keep the team's hopes alive for a home playoff game. In Saturday's season finale at Western New England, the Gulls won 69-60 behind a team-high 20 points off the bench from Walker who hit 6-of-11 shots including 3-of-4 three-point attempts. He also grabbed a team-high seven caroms and caused two Golden Bear turnovers. 

After a month-long stretch from January 15th to February 12th in which the team went 3-6 against conference opponents and fell down the league standings, Endicott ended the regular season with three straight wins. They enter the CCC Tournament with a 17-8 (11-7 CCC) record and will face off against their opponent from the 2012 CCC Championship, a game that Endicott 90-66 to advance into the NCAA Tournament. Salve Regina is 16-9 (11-7 CCC) and with playoff tiebreakers over the Gulls, hold the #4 seed in the tournament.
