MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Wesleyan University Cardinals defeated the Endicott College Gulls in men's basketball action on Tuesday night in Middletown, Conn., 75-52. The loss drops the Gulls to 4-5 this season while the Cardinals improve to 2-5. Endicott was led by 12 points apiece from both Graham Whitelaw (Kennebunk, Maine) and captain Ross Stewart (Palm Harbor, Fla.)

In the first half, the Gulls were only able to score 22 points as Stewart scored nine points in the frame. Endicott would take over the lead in the opening minutes with a 5-4 lead behind a jumper from Stewart. Endicott would respond with a 10-6 run of its own to close the half but still trailed 28-22.

Wesleyan would continue its scoring in the second half as they scored eight of the first 10 points of the period to build a 36-24 lead. The rest of the half was much of the same as the Gulls would claw within nine points but would never be able to get closer than that, losing the game by the final score of 75-52.

Bobby Montrond (Brockton, Mass.) led the Gulls on the boards with eight in the game. Kevin McGuire (New City, N.Y.) had a strong game off the bench for the Gulls with seven points and three rebounds while Mike Rhodes (Amston, Conn.) had four points and four assists.

Wesleyan got balanced scoring behind the game-high effort of freshman Jason Mendell (Bedford, N.Y.), who came off the bench to score 15 points. Six Cardinals had eight points or more in the contest and junior Jeremy Kaminer (Cherry Hill, N.J.) had nine points and dished off six assists and had three steals to aid the Wesleyan cause. Senior Gabe Gonzalez-Kreisberg (Amherst, Mass.) took game honors on the boards with 11.

Endicott has wrapped up the first semester of its season at 4-5 overall. The Gulls will return to action on January 8th at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine at 5:30 p.m. Wesleyan has also wrapped up the first portion of their schedule and will return to the floor on January 2nd against Wheelock College at 6:00 p.m.
