Bristol, RI - Nemanja Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Second Baptist/Houston, TX) recorded his fifth double-double in his last six games as Endicott College defeated Roger Williams 62-58.
Marinkovic scored a game high 22 points on eight-of-sixteen shooting and added 18 rebounds as the Gulls improved their CCC record to 7-3, while handing the Hawks their third loss in the conference.
EC got off to a quick start with an 8-0 run in the first five minutes. Roger Williams would battle back with a 16-5 run of their own building a six point lead midway through the first half.
The two teams continued to trade baskets for the remainder of the half with the Gulls taking a four point lead into half time thanks to a pair of foul shots from Mike Sullivan (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) and a last second jumper from Marinkovic.
EC would lead by as many as 12 points in the second half but the Hawks would not go down without a fight taking a 54-53 lead into the final two and a half minutes of the game. Marinkovic scored six of Endicott's final eight points leading the Gulls to a 62-58 win.
The Gulls got solid play from Sullivan, who added 17 points on seven-of-twelve shooting and added six rebounds. Joey Burgos (Lawrence, MA/Lawrence) also played well for EC dropping in 12 points on six-of-nine shooting and grabbed five rebounds.
Endicott runs its overall record to 9-9, while CCC South leading Roger Williams falls to 13-6 overall. The Gulls continue their CCC stretch run when they return home on Tuesday night to take on Eastern Nazarene at 6:00 pm in Beverly.
