Crew Sweeps UMass Lowell In Erg Challenge

BEVERLY, Mass. — Last Saturday (2/12), the Endicott crew team hosted their first race of the season since March 25, 2021, against UMass Lowell. Here's how the Gulls fared versus the River Hawks in the 2,000-meter erg challenge.

The men's team had a strong win against UMass Lowell to start the day as Hunter Robb (Meriden, N.H.) placed first with the time of 7:21.5 (averaging a split of 1:50.4).

Shortly after taking first for the Gulls, Trajan Gilson (Lincolnville, Maine) finished with a time of 7:41.3 (1:55.3), while Michael Reeves (Reading, Mass.) clocked a time of 7:44.5 (1:56.1).

On the women's side, it was a close fight for first as Emily Forward (Concord, N.H.) took first place in 8:22.0 (2:05.5). Adeline Fullaway (Barrington, R.I.) finished one stroke behind Forward in a time of 8.22.9 (2:05.7).

TOP QUOTES

"The team was very ecstatic to be back racing and pulled impressive numbers being that it was the first race back in a year," said Katie Alzapiedi (New Milford, Conn.).

"This team has worked so hard in the past year, especially given that the circumstances have not been in our favor. A majority of our rowers hit their goal in last weekend's race and we even had a personal record set during the race," said captain Kayla Brownhill (Clifton Park, N.Y.). "Coach Surabian also has been a phenomenal addition to the team and has helped the program get back into a regular season. I can't wait to see what this team accomplishes this season, I know they will do great things."
