Women's Novice Captures NECRL Crown!

Women's Novice Captures NECRL Crown!
After winning last weekend's New England Collegiate Rowing League's final regular season race to earn a spot in the Championships, the Endicott women's novice 4+ captured it's first ever league title with a time of 9:04:3, beating second-place Roger Williams by 10 seconds.   Emily Heath, Caitlin Micek, Courtney Russell, Joy Harriman, and Kaitlyn Walker teamed up to take the coveted win at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, MA.  Assumption College and Brandeis finished third and fourth respectively (full results can be found at the link attached here)  http://results.qra.org/expand_regatta.lasso?-KeyValue=34001

Coach Brian Chorney states "the women were sitting around in 3rd 500m into the race when they passed the dock where all the spectators were.  We've been training all year to start picking up steam with 700m left and they absolutely took off to win by 10 seconds.  With all of the hard work and committment throughout the off season and this spring, the challenges that come with a developing program, this is perfect timing to enjoy the fruits of our labor".

In other races throughout the day, Endicott's winning ways continued as coxswain Kaitlyn Walker, Miles Auger, Joy Harriman, and Emily Heath combined to outlast the field again.  The mixed races did not count towards NECRL Championship status, but each competitor in each race were eligible for medalist honors.

With a men's and women's four slated for the fall, not including the incoming freshmen recruits who will be brought into the fold, Endicott Crew will be poised to use this final race as a springboard to continued successes.  Congratulations again!!
