Gulls Scream Into NECRL Championship

Gulls Scream Into NECRL Championship

After a week one hiccup, the Endicott women's novice 4+'s tweaked lineup (Cox: Kaitlyn Walker, 4: Joy Harriman, 3: Emily Heath, 2: Courtney Russell, and 1: Caitlin Micek) got some help in the standings on their bye week, and were given the opportunity to force their own hands in the New England Collegiate Rowing League regular season finale in Manchester, NH.  Having to defeat Brandeis University and Lasell College to qualify for the NECRL Championship regatta, the gulls took off from the start and never looked back en route to the first 1st place finish in team history, finishing over 15 seconds ahead of previously undefeated Assumption College.  Full race results are below.

In Endicott's second race of the day and a NECRL first, Miles Auger, took to the water in the men's 1x finishing 2nd in a field of 3.

For the final race of the day, Endicott's mixed 4+ (Cox: Courtney Russell, 4. Miles Auger, 2. Kaitlyn Walker, 1. Caitlin Micek) borrowing a male rower from Wentworth, jumped off the line a length up on the competition from Southern NH University and Brandeis in what was descibed by the SNHU coach as "an intense race".  Succombing to the exhaustion of their previous race, Endicott may have emptied the tank a little too early and faded to finish 2nd of 3.

Sunday, May 2, the team wraps up their season as the women's novice 4+ and mixed 4+ competes at the NECRL Championships on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcestor, MA.  Race times have not yet been released.
