BEVERLY, Mass. – Following the College’s philosophy to "learn by doing" through experiential learning, 437 of Endicott’s varsity and club student-athletes' career outcomes from 2009-10 through 2015 were tracked to provide an understanding of how internships lead to careers.
Among the group of 437 student-athletes, several of them completed internships with companies that ended up becoming their future employer. Historically, 40% of our graduates, on average, receive their first career position at one of their three former internship sites.
Some of those companies include State Street Alternative Investment Solutions, Brigham & Women's Hospital, the Boston Celtics, PUMA, Saint Mary's Hospital, Hyatt Hotels, Salem Academy Charter School, Boston University, Gorton's, PSP Imports, UCG Marketing, and Lindt & Sprungli, to name a few.
Along with the companies listed above, Endicott alums also currently hold jobs at the following places of employment in a variety of different disciplines: Dunkin' Brands (Assistant Advertising Manager), Boston Bruins (Fan Relations Representative), Seattle University (Graduate Assistant for Donor Relations and Promotions), University of Georgia (Research Assistant), WMBD 31 (Co-Anchor), Merrill Lynch (Client Associate), Citizens Bank (IT Security Professional, Assistant Vice President), Boston Regional Intelligence Center (Critical Infrastructure Analyst), New England Patriots (Community Relations Coordinator), WMHT (Associate Producer), Fertility Centers of New England (Embryologist), New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (Marketing/Media Coordinator), Boston Globe Media (Video Producer), House Repbulican Caucus (Outreach Coordinator), John Hancock Financial Services (Consolidation Coordinator), Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Registered Nurse - Critical Care SICU), and the Swanson Road Intermediate School (Special Education Teacher), among many others.
Before landing positions with their current employers, our former student-athletes were placed at 619 different internship sites, which does not include any duplicate sites. Highlighting those internship placements were the American School for the Deaf, Arizona Department of Health, Boston Regional Intelligence Center, Boston University, Brown University, Childhelp USA, Comcast SportsNet, Converse, Department of Children and Families, Embassy of Mexico, FBI North Shore Gang Task Force, Greenpeace, Harvard University, IMG Sports & Entertainment, Jimmy Fund Clinic (Dana Farber Cancer Institute), Kansas University, Mass. State Police Forensic Services Group, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Nestle, New England Center for Children, New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance, Oakley, Philadelphia Flyers, Red Bull, Rhode Island State House, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Special Olympics Office, State Attorney's Office, WBZ-TV CBS Boston, and Yale University.
Endicott's education students were also placed at over 30 high schools and over 40 academies and elementary/middle schools.

THE ENDICOTT MODEL
Endicott College is a pioneer in requiring comprehensive internship experiences in every program of study for undergraduate students. A philosophy of "learning by doing" permeates the college curriculum in which students are encouraged to integrate theory and practice in all of their studies.
Through their experiences in internships students will be prepared to:
- Apply, integrate, and evaluate knowledge within a particular academic discipline
- Develop competencies for careers and community service
- Explore career options and gain field experience
- Foster personal growth through increased self-confidence, interpersonal skills, an understanding of self and others, and a heightened awareness of ethical standards
- Improve the ability to learn in a self-directed manner
THE INTERNSHIP SEQUENCE FOR FIELD-BASED LEARNING AT ENDICOTT
Bachelor degree candidates complete two 120-hour Internships (INT100 and INT200) for two credits each and one Semester Internship for 12 credits over 14 weeks. Bachelor degree students entering Endicott College with 30 or more credits are exempt from one 120-hour internship.
OTHER MODELS FOR INTERNSHIP
Nursing, Athletic Training and Education students follow a different model for internships to meet their graduation requirements. Nursing and Athletic Training internship credits are earned in clinical education experiences. Education students devote internship hours to student teaching.
