Women’s Cross Country Breaks Into USTFCCCA Regional Rankings

REGIONAL RANKINGS HISTORY

BEVERLY, Mass. — For the first time in program history, the Endicott women's cross country team has been voted into the top-10 of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Rankings.

"This team has been putting in a lot of strong work and has had a fun season so far, so it is great to see recognition of their efforts among the region. It was exciting to see the squad in a bigger race against such strong competition this past weekend. They are looking forward to the final stretch of the season here," said Endicott women's cross country head coach Spencer Lange.

Yesterday's announcement from the USTFCCCA marks the first-ever in-season regional ranking for the Gulls.

In 2021, Endicott finished No. 10 overall at the NCAA Division III East Region Championship to claim its first-ever top-10 finish at the meet and in the USTFCCCA regional rankings since the NCAA DIII Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Committee, as well as the Division III Championships Committee, approved a 10-region realignment model for cross country.

So far this season, the Gulls have posted four top-5 finishes highlighted by their two most recent meets, the Codfish Bowl (3rd of 12) and the Suffolk Invitational (4th of 26).

At the Codfish Bowl, then-No. 27 nationally ranked Tufts won the meet with 40 points, while Yale (53), Endicott (103), Sacred Heart (106), and Gordon (144) rounded out the top-5.

The Gulls followed up that performance by competing against five regionally ranked opponents at the Suffolk Invitational last weekend including No. 5 Wellesley, No. 7 Suffolk (18th overall, rested top-7), No. 8 Bowdoin, No. 9 Colby, and No. 10 Keene State.

Endicott ranked fourth with 119 points finishing just behind Wellesley (114), while beating Keene State (171).
