ENDICOTT SOFTBALL ALL-REGION AWARDS HISTORY

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott softball's junior second baseman Chrissy Gikas (Danvers, Mass.) and senior catcher Emily Hoffman (Malden, Mass.) were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III New England All-Region teams as announced this week.

Gikas, a 2014 NFCA Third Team member, was placed on the Second Team as a second baseman, while Hoffman, an at-large selection, landed a spot on the Third Team for her first career NFCA accolade.

Gikas and Hoffman are two of the 364 student-athletes honored in 2016 by the NFCA across the country's eight NCAA regions in Division III this season.

NFCA DIVISION III NEW ENGLAND REGION SECOND TEAM

CHRISSY GIKAS | JUNIOR | SECOND BASE | DANVERS, MASS.

Gikas, a two-time All-CCC First Team selection, finished second on the team with 35 hits and 23 runs scored this season. Gikas ended her junior campaign on a nine-game hitting streak and recorded multi-hit games on eight occasions. Gikas made 57 putouts with 60 assists and two errors in 119 chances and turned six double plays through 36 games for this Gulls for a .983 fielding percentage.

NFCA DIVISION III NEW ENGLAND REGION THIRD TEAM

EMILY HOFFMAN | SENIOR | CATCHER | MALDEN, MASS.

Hoffman, a two-time All-CCC First Team selection, led the team in on-base percentage (.505) and most runs scored (24), second in batting average (.384) and slugging percentage (.640), and was third in hits (33) and RBIs (23). Hoffman paced the team with 14 extra-base hits (eight doubles, four triples, two home runs) and 20 walks and has situated herself among the ranks of the all-time Endicott greats as her .505 on-base percentage ranks sixth for highest in a single-season, as well as her four triples is tied for third for most in a single season. Additionally, Hoffman's career six triples, on-base percentage (.428), slugging percentage (.516) and walks (52) rank sixth, seventh, ninth and tied for ninth, respectively.
