BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott softball team has been slated second in the 2016 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, as selected by the league's ten head coaches. 

Endicott received 86 points and two first place votes heading into the 2016 season, as the Gulls are coming off an 18-19 overall record in 2015 (11-5 CCC), falling 4-1 to Western New England University in the CCC Championship. 

Head coach Mark Veilleux enters his 22nd season at the helm of a widely successful program, having won 10 CCC titles and 13 championships overall in his tenure and has appeared in 15 of the last 16 title games.

Salve Regina University was picked for the top spot with 89 points and three first place votes. Western New England received the most first place votes (4), but was third with 79 points, while Roger Williams rounded out the top four ranked fourth (69) and garnered the remaining first place vote. University of New England (67), Curry (53), Nichols (38), Gordon (36), Wentworth (18), and Eastern Nazarene (15) rounded out the poll in respective order.

Endicott opens the 2016 campaign with 10 games in Clermont, Fla. as part of the NTC Spring Games during Spring Break with game one set for Sunday, March 13 against William Paterson at 9:00 a.m. The Gulls begin CCC play at Gordon on Wednesday, March 23 for a 3:30/5:30 p.m. doubleheader and the home opener against Thomas (Me.) follows on Thursday, March 31 at 3:00/5:00 p.m.
