Seven Gulls Land On All-CCC Teams; DiBella Named Senior Scholar-Athlete

CCC SOFTBALL ALL-CONFERENCE RELEASE 

BEVERLY, Mass. —The Endicott softball team is pleased to recognize seven Gulls named to the 2016 Softball Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-CCC teams, as well as a Senior Scholar-Athlete winner, as selected by the conference's 10 head coaches and announced today by the conference office.

Endicott placed five on the All-CCC First Team as senior pitcher Courtney Blake (East Islip, N.Y.), senior catcher Emily Hoffman (Malden, Mass.), junior second baseman Chrissy Gikas (Danvers, Mass.), senior outfielder Jamie Corda (Higganum, Conn.), and freshman designated player Hayley Arduini (Southington, Conn.) rounded out the first team. Sophomore utility Margaret Martzolf (Port Saint Lucie, Fla.) and junior outfielder Julia McNeill (Smithtown, N.Y.) were the placed on the Second and Third Teams, respectively.

ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM

COURTNEY BLAKE | SENIOR | PITCHER | EAST ISLIP, N.Y.

Blake, also a  2015 All-CCC First Teams selection, is currently tied for second in the conference in wins (11) and has the fifth-lowest ERA in conference (2.40 ERA). Blake was honored as the CCC Pitcher of the Week (3/30) and ECAC DIII New England Pitcher of the Week (3/30) for her first career no-hitter against Gordon on March 23rd. Blake has thrown 14 complete-game this season and has notched herself on the all-time program pitching records list with 69 appearances (fourth), 46 complete games (fourth), 15 shutouts (T-fourth), 379 2/3 innings pitched (fourth), 53 starts (fifth), 38 career wins (fifth), and 185 strikeouts (seventh).

EMILY HOFFMAN | SENIOR | CATCHER | MALDEN, MASS.

Hoffman, also a 2014 All-CCC First Team selection, is the reigning CCC Player of the Week and ECAC DIII New England Player of the Week (4/24), leads the team in on-base percentage (.516) and is tied for most runs scored (21). Hoffman paces the team with 12 extra-base hits (six doubles, four triples, two home runs) and 19 walks and has situated herself among the ranks of the all-time Endicott greats as her .516 on-base percentage ranks sixth for highest in a single-season, as well as her four triples is tied for third for most in a single season. Additionally, Hoffman's career six triples, on-base percentage (.428), slugging percentage (.514) and walks (51) rank sixth, seventh, and 10th, respectively.

CHRISSY GIKAS | JUNIOR | SECOND BASE | DANVERS, MASS.

Gikas, also 2014 All-CCC First Team selection, is second on the team with 35 hits and is tied for the team lead with 21 runs scored.  Gikas has made 50 putouts with 56 assists and two errors in 108 chances and turned five double plays through 33 games for this Gulls this season with a .981 fielding percentage.

JAMIE CORDA | SENIOR | OUTFIELD | HIGGANUM, CONN.

Corda, also a 2015 All-CCC Second Team selection, is second on the team in doubles (8) and recorded her 100th career hit earlier this season on April 10th against Western New England with a double in the seventh inning of the second game of the twin bill. Corda's 32 career doubles is good for fourth on the all-time program list. Corda boasts a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage as she has made 24 putouts with two assists in 26 total chances through 28 games for the Gulls.

HAYLEY ARDUINI | FRESHMAN | DESIGNATED PLAYER | SOUTHINGTON, CONN.

Arduini currently leads the team in batting average (.415) and slugging percentage (.830), and is currently tied for third in the conference with six home runs. Arduini has put together a solid freshman campaign, highlighted by tying an Endicott program record for most RBIs in a single game as she drove in seven runs against Curry on April 19th capitalized by a grand slam and a solo shot.

ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM

MARGARET MARTZOLF | SOPHOMORE | UTILITY | PORT SAINT LUCIE, FLA.

Martzolf, also a 2015 All-CCC Third Team selection, currently leads the team with 23 RBIs. Martzolf has recorded a team-high 148 putouts with seven assists and three errors in 158 total chances with seven double plays for a .981 fielding percentage between first and third base. Martzolf has appeared in a team-high 34 of 35 games this season for the Gulls.

ALL-CCC THIRD TEAM

JULIA MCNEILL | JUNIOR | OUTFIELD | SMITHTOWN, N.Y.

McNeill, also a 2015 All-CCC Third Team selection, paces the squad in hits for the second consecutive season with a team-leading 37 hits (nine doubles) in a team-high 111 at-bats and 121 plate appearances, 51 total bases, and 22 RBIs and is fifth in the conference with 11 stolen bases. McNeill has 32 putouts and 11 assists and one error in 44 total chances for a .977 fielding percentage primarily in right field through 33 games for the Gulls.

SENIOR SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

SAMANTHA DIBELLA | SENIOR | THIRD BASE/ CATCHER/ DESIGNATED PLAYER | DANVERS, MASS.

Senior third baseman Samantha DiBella (Danvers, Mass.) has been selected as the conference's Senior Scholar-Athlete, for her stellar work in the classroom as a nursing major. In her time at Endicott, DiBella holds the highest cumulative GPA on the softball team (3.83), was a 2015 CoSIDA Academic First Team All-District honoree, in addition to twice being named Academic All-Conference and landing on the Dean's List as a three-time Endicott Academic Varsity Club member.

DiBella will graduate this May with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and has completed clinical rotations at Salem Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Anna Jacques Hospital and Devereux Nursing Home. DiBella is a member of Sigma Theta International and Phi Sigma Gamma Upsilon, as well as the Massachusetts and National Student Nurse's Association and Endicott Student Nurse's Association.

On the field, the senior captain  was a three-time All-CCC First Team selection and two-time NFCA Division III All-New England Second Team honoree in her career as her .535 career slugging percentage ranks sixth all-time, while her  28 doubles (seventh), 16 home runs (fifth), and 92 RBIs rank fifth in Endicott softball program history.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Gulls (21-14 overall) earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament after posting a 12-4 record in CCC play. Endicott will host the winner of No. 3 Salve Regina/ (No. 6 Eastern Nazarene/No. 7 Nichols) in Game 6 of the double-elimination CCC Tournament on Monday, May 2nd at the Softball Field a time to be determined.
