Men's Tennis Drops 7-2 Decision to Regional Foe Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team traveled to Bentley on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference matchup. Despite a key #1 doubles victory from freshman Christopher Kirkpatrick and junior Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.), the Gulls fell in a tough 7-2 decision. Endicott sits at 5-5 (1-1 CCC) while the Falcons improve to 10-6 (5-2 NE-10).

The Gulls will take the court next, tomorrow, Monday 13 as they travel to Western New England for a CCC battle at 3:30 p.m. Bentley will see action next on Wednesday, April 15th for a conference matchup at Southern Maine at 2:00 p.m.

In doubles action, Dolph and Kirkpatrick defeated their counterparts, senior Alex DeMuth (Shaker Heights, Ohio), and junior Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland) 8-4. In the #2 slot, senior Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) and junior Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.) fell in a tough 8-4 battle with sophomore Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H.) and freshman Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine). To wrap up doubles play, sophomore Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) and senior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) dropped an 8-5 decision to junior Sam Frye (Redlands, Calif.) and sophomore Samuel Klau (San Juan, Puerto Rico) in the #3 slot.

Heading into singles play, the Falcons held a 2-1 lead. Dolph claimed the second victory for the Blue and Green off a retirement in the #3 slot for a 2-2 score. Bentley pulled away in the #1 slot as McCarthy defeated Kirkpatrick 6-4, 6-1. The Falcons would also claim victories in slots 2,4,5 and 6. Freshman Nicholas Eherts (New Milford, Conn.) highlighted the Gulls singles play as he battled with counterpart freshman Alberto Riveroll Usabiago (Celaya, Mexico) in the #6 position, forcing three sets before dropping 4-6, 7-5, 10-5.
