Men's Tennis Defeats FDU-Florham on Day Two of Spring Tennis Fest

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Endicott men's tennis team competed against FDU-Florham on Tuesday evening for day two of the Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Gulls soared to an 8-1 victory highlighted by a shutout singles match by freshman Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.). Endicott improves to 3-2 while the Blue Devils fall to 1-3. The Gulls will hit the courts again tomorrow as they face Ramapo for a noon start time.

The Blue and Green started the match out on the right foot as they gained three victories in doubles play. In the #1 slot, Kirkpatrick and junior Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) battled with senior Mitch Gettis (Reading, Pa.) and freshman Max Moscowitz (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) to take the 8-3 victory. In the #2 slot, senior Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) and junior Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.) took their counterparts, freshman combo Chris Ly (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Steven Serras (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in an 8-4 triumph.

The Blue Devils did not have anyone represent the #3 slot which gave the Gulls an automatic win by default in that spot to give Endicott a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

To start off singles play Kirkpatrick took Gettis in a 6-0, 6-0 victory to finish first. Finishing next, Moscowitz defeated sophomore Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) to give the Blue Devils their lone tally of the evening.  In the #5 slot, freshman Sam Salvas (Stowe, Vt.) defeated his opponent, junior Ryan O'Keefe (Honesdale, Pa.) in a 6-2, 6-1 battle to secure the five wins needed for the Gulls to secure the match. Wrapping up the match in the #3 slot, Lauretano took Ly (6-3, 6-2) while freshman Matthew Doherty (Plymouth, Mass.) defeated Serras (6-3, 6-1) to make a final 8-1 score.
